Today it’s the third really sunny, summerly day in series. On Sunday my housemate and me went to the beach in Salthill (no swimming yet, but some people did), yesterday I worked outside for some time (but the ThinkPad displays are rather designed for office use), and today it’s still very nice outside. That’s Irish weather – come and feel it!

irgendwas stimmt da nicht. Heißt es nicht in Irland “dieses Jahr fiel der Sommer auf einen Freitag” ?
(ich will mich ja nicht als Kenner outen, aber probier doch mal ein Smithwicks – ich glaub es ist cool wenn man ein “Smiddix” bestellt)

@Vyacheslav: Sure, feel invited! But probably rather in June than in May, as I’ll be quite busy now in the final phase of the guided research and before the ESWC. And I think it’d be easiest to meet in Dublin, as it takes both of us roughly equally long to get there. So, let’s talk about the details personally!

@Anne: Na ja, vielleicht der Klimawandel? Aber ich sehe, du kennst dich echt aus. Vor dem Klimawandel muss es so gewesen sein, denn ich habe in einem Laden ein T-Shirt entdeckt, wo unter der Überschrift „the seasons of Ireland“ viermal jeweils ein Schaf mit Schirm im Regen steht. Im Winter hat es Ohrenwärmer und im Sommer eine Sonnenbrille, aber sonst sieht das Bild immer gleich aus.
Smithwicks hatte ich schon probiert, und ich finde es auch sehr gut, siehe http://langec.wordpress.com/2008/04/12/nach-der-ersten-kneipentour/#comments. Was ich auch probiert habe, ist Bulmers Cider (http://www.bulmers.ie). Jetzt müsste ich eigentlich mal einen Viez im direkten Vergleich trinken

for all those of you who have never been to Ireland: yes, the sun can shine here, and yes, please bring tops for the summer as it can really be warm (hot) over here, but remember to bring your suncream. I got sunburned the other when I was at the beach in Salthill. A nasty sunburn, but the Irish are pretty pale, so there is no need to be afraid looking fair-skinned – or not tanned yet. The Irish usually get red, not brown as we Germans tend to. Ah, another thing: the weather over here is the way you feel, ie you can meet people in tops and others in jackets at the same day.
